Here are 3 pictures of my third class project. Our assignment was to create tessellations by cutting out paper and sticking it to illustration board. The first would be just 1 of the “squares” filling up the entire illustration board, then the second one would be 4 of them, and the third one would be 16 of them! This is my take on some angular arrows that only start to appear fully when you tessellate them. it took me quite a few hours to do this all by hand, and again, they’re not perfect, because i’m not a machine… The dimensions of the designs are 10″ by 10″.

Here are 4 pictures of the second class project that i finished just now. This assignment was to take paper of 9 different values from black to white, and create rhythm and repetition in our designs, using principles of organization and the elements of art. i wanted to do 2 on white illustration board, and 2 on black. i need a new digital camera, if you couldn’t tell from the awful quality of these pictures. i did my best to edit them after the fact, so hopefully you can still enjoy them. The Mega Face made of pixels sort of loses points for not being perfect, but hey, i’m not a machine. Kristen, if you’re reading this, i made the crescent moon with your birth moon in my head, so hopefully you like it because after class is over, i’m going to get it framed and give it to you as a sort of housewarming gift. The dimensions of the designs are 10″ by 10″.

Random update. Just a picture of another Perler Bead Mega Man i made of the iconic jumping shot. Here’s a random flash puzzle that starts with the “Don’t Worry” Guy from Nowhere Trip. it’s pretty random, but it’s a lot of unused art and illustrations that i thought would be cool to post in an animated puzzle. Who knows, you may even see them on some t-shirt designs later this Summer, but i’m counting chickens right now, and i haven’t even eaten eggs for breakfast in weeks…

Here are 4 pictures of a class project that i finished this weekend. My new 2-d design class was hard to get into at first, but i’m liking it now. The first assignment was to take black paper, cut a square of any size, then cut into that square and “expand” it outward using principles of organization and the elements of art. if it sounds generic and vague, that’s because it is. These are the 4 that i came up with. the dimensions are 10″ by 10″. 2 of them are symmetrical, and 2 of them are not.

Here’s a new piece of art i just finished – 3 acrylic paintings (8″ x 6″ each, so they’re pretty small) that i have made for myself, even though it wasn’t on my to do list. They are based off a poem and sketch i did a couple of years ago. i’m working on a new interactive comic strip, preparing for my illustration class next week, and working on the whole mortgage/moving situation… Anyway, click on the thumbnail to open up the picture in a new window. Let me know if you like it. i took the picture with my digital camera, so it’s not the best scan, and you do lose some of the texture/quality that i intended for it, like the fact that all of the paint has been matted except for the yellow, which i did in glossy. This is the way that they are hanging above my desk, so i’m sorry if you don’t like the way that they’re all squished into one picture… if you want to figure out what it says on your own, don’t read past the thumbnail.
