eXactLy iNaccurate dot com is an idea that my friend Dan and i came up with while we were Seniors at Bentley College. i loved (and still do love) to draw, paint, and create art/animations on the computer, and Dan loved messing around with Flash, making games and random interactive entertainment for our own enjoyment. We thought to ourselves, let’s make a website with all of this stuff for the whole world to enjoy. So we set out to make a unique and interactive website that was mainly Flash content based because we were messing around with Flash a lot that year. i had started drawing my own comic strip, Bootleg, and we said, let’s make the comic strip in Flash so that it could be interactive. With the [web]comic as the main part of the site, we’d have other sections of downloads, designs, other random things to entertain yourself with, and then we had to come up with the name…

i came up with the name “exactly inaccurate” thinking i had invented this new phrase, some new lyrical paradox. Brilliance of the moment. At least maybe an oxymoron. in reality, however, it is a phrase that people already use, even if it is very rarely. Most people use it in an almost negative way… For example, “Your article about me isn’t exactly inaccurate, but it could be better.” it also somewhat relates to precision and accuracy. i, however, want it to be positive, enjoyable, and cryptic. if nothing else, i can at least say that it sounds poetic and clever.

Jokingly, we made a mission statement:

Satisfy our hunger,
make a profit.
Run Shit!
Be incredible!

Bootleg, the interactive comic strip, is all in Flash, so you can interact with each strip in a unique way, whether it’s to advance the frames of the strip (you’ll see a flashing arrow button on the edges of the frame), zoom in and out to see more details, or to find secrets – like hidden mouseovers or hidden links… i’ll try to post new comic strips every other week. Same goes for the Hate/Love Lists.

For now, i’d say just to play around on the site and interact with the content, download some art, music, whatever i decide to post, and make comments on the posts if you like anything or have any suggestions. Everything i post will get posted to one of the general sections, so you can click on whatever section you’re looking for to see all of the content in each. The website is in a blog format, so i’ll keep posting stuff whenever i finish it, and everyone who comes to the site will be able to see the most recent posts on the main page and at the top of each section.
